The United Nations Club of Wesley College took part in SISHMUN (Sishya Model United Nations) 2010 organized by Sishya school in Adyar, Chennai. The conference was held from the 23rd to the 26th of September 2010. The delegation of Wesley College landed in India on the 22nd at 0840hrs.
Wesley was given to represent The Russian Federation and Greece and we had 12 delegates who represented these countries from our school. The conference kicked off on the first day with a spectacular opening ceremony which had entertaining traditional Indian dances. After the Sectary General for SISHMUN 2010, Mr. Pranshu Maheshwari, officially declared the conference open the delegates were sent to their respective committee rooms along with their Chair person. The first day finished off at 4.15pm after a long day of heated debate where the entire delegation of Wesley College made a powerful first impression by performing extremely well and always being active within session. The second day of the conference officially began at 8.30 AM and continued the usual proceedings where the delegates debated the second topic of each respective committee, formulating resolutions and also debating each resolution. The second day’s proceedings came to an end at the usual time of 4.15PM. After all the hard work and dedication came the third and final day of SISHMUN2010 and the day started off with all delegates gathering to the General Assembly committee room where the Sectary General announced that there was a emergency situation that can threaten the entire international community. A unidentified organization has planted Sarine bomb, an extremely lethal chemical, in five nations and threatens to detonate them unless prisoners of another five states were released. After this briefing the General Assembly stayed in the same committee whilst the delegates of the Security Council, ECOSOC, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Commissions returned to their respective committees. Each and every committee worked hard to tackle the situation and The Russian Federation and Greece was significant. The 3rd day of the conference ended after a huge amount of excitement and tension when the committee finally came to a decision to release the prisoners.
After the session ended for the final day SISHMUN2010 the award ceremony followed this proved to be a immensely successful MUN conference for Wesley. The delegation of Wesley won a total of 4 awards. These awards are as follows-

All in all SISHMUN 2010 was a great success for Wesley College and the UNCWC participating in an international conference and representing our school and also the country as well and therefore I would like to conclude by thanking our school who always stood by us and the SISHMUN organizing committee for their hospitality during our stay in India which was an unforgettable experience for all delegates.
