Guys, The Topics for SLMUN 2012 has been released!!
The topics for FSC and CRISIS still has not been released!!

• GA 1: The First Committee: Disarmament and International Security (DISEC)

1. The creation of a comprehensive global strategy to combat maritime piracy and enact punitive measures against the perpetrators of such crimes. 
2. Discussing the relative costs and benefits of arming paramilitary groups and militias during times of war, and the disarmament, demobilization and re-integration of such groups through peace keeping efforts. 

• GA 2: The Second Committee: Economic and Financial (ECOFIN)

1. Assessing the relevance and success of Economic and Monetary Unions (EMUs) and their impacts on global market and trade. 
2. Questioning the imposition of economic and trade sanctions as a means of exerting political pressure and a form of punitive justice. 

• GA3: The Third Committee: Social, Cultural, and Humanitarian (SOCHUM)

1. Questioning the efficacy and morality of racial profiling techniques employed by law enforcement agencies and the justice system.
2. The implementation of strategies to eradicate child conscription and advance the process of their rehabilitation and reintegration into society.

• WFP: World Food Programme

1. Questioning the economic justifications for the destruction and stockpiling of agricultural surpluses in the face of the global food crisis and the moral imperative there in. 
2. The protection of agricultural resources such as arable land and water bodies during times of conflict and the revitalization of such resources within a post conflict context. 

• ECOSOC : Economic and Social Council

1. The creation and encouragement of green collar jobs as a means of addressing unemployment with the long-term vision of a sustainable future.
2. Ensuring the protection and sustenance of refugees and IDP’s during times of conflict and their efficient resettlement as an important step in peace building and post-conflict recovery.

• UNHRC: United Nations Human Rights Council

1. Follow up session on the resolution 19/2, Promoting reconciliation and accountability in Sri Lanka. 
2. The censorship and regulation of the freedom of speech during times of war, with special emphasis on the constraints placed on the press and social media. 

• CCPCJ: Committee on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice

1. Strengthening the United Nations Convention against Corruption and its follow-up mechanisms in order to embolden the global fight against corruption.
2. Transnational Organized Crime such as the illicit trade of narcotics and weapons, and human trafficking as a means of supporting and sustaining conflicts and acts of terror.

• AL: Arab League

1. Analyzing the failure of the past Arab League observer mission in Syria, with the purpose of re-establishing it with a more efficient and effective mandate to bring long-term peace and stability to the region.
2. Ensuring economic, political and social stability throughout and after the electoral process in newly democratized Arab nations. 

• HSC: Historic Security Council 

1. The Rwandan crisis- 1994

• SC: Security Council

1. Creation of a UN standing army.
2. Military intervention in the Syrian crisis.
